Marine Project Group The duties of a modern VLCC / FPSO Deck Officer (if he is any good) is really 90% performing the duties of the Deck Engineer. In order to be a successful Person in Charge, one must understand the tasks to be performed. For example one cannot successfully supervise welding the shell plating on a Vessel during refit if one is not a certified welder himself. I am very much a "hands on" Officer with exceptionally high technical skills in the operation, repair and maintenance of Marine Structures. Striking out on ones own requires courage and confidence. I specialize in the repair, maintenance and operation of VLCC / FPSO and other Marine Structures, perform FLIR inspections of switchboards, install and repair complex Electrical, Electronic and Control systems, supervise Refits and Drydockings, perform Load Master and Pilotage Duties, etc. I am also experienced in Hydraulics and Pneumatics. More details are available at www.marineprojectgroup.com Having these varied interests is important in order to keep an overall active and positive frame of mind and it is my goal to offer a well rounded knowledge base to my Clients, Customers and Employers such that they can be assured that every aspect of the job shall be addressed down to the smallest detail. Honour and integrity, performing the task at hand with safety and efficiency to the highest standards are the foremost attributes of my work ethics both in my business and on the Ship.
Marine Electrician: Over a two year period back when I was 19 years old I operated my own Marine Electrical business as a full time Marine Electrician and I still do frequent Marine Electrical installations and repairs. Some of my accomplishments were the complete rewire of a 140 foot coastal vessel with navigation light alarms, a ums system for 5 engines, bilge alarms, main 208V 3 phase electric and control panels as well as emergency battery and charging systems all of my own design and passed by Flag State Inspectors. And this was at the age of 19. Since then my skills have increased much more. There were many other jobs installing radars, autopilots, and other marine electronics, ect. Many other rewires, and smaller repairs. Pictures of my recent work are available on website www.marineprojectgroup.com Since then while on Seagoing Assignments, I have been successful at repairing vital components like boiler controls, radars, sounders, gas detectors, etc, that would otherwise have resulted in the vessel receiving a deficiency or otherwise been unable to sail until a shore tech was available. In this age of high technology I feel it is essential that one possess these technical skills. Load Master and Marine Surveyor:
Proficient at loadline surveys, bunker surveys, damage surveys, quantity and quality surveys of bulk and liquid cargoes. Performed Load Master duties for several liquid bulk contracts. Performed Australia Maritime Safety Authority inspector duties while assigned to this area. Also experienced in the lab work required. Example, testing for sulphur contents, finding API gravity, viscosity, pour point, chloride tests, metals contents, etc. |
